"OK, I will try to summarize his last couple calls as best as I can. We talked to Kris on Friday, the 13th and I spoke with him again today, the 17th. They are in Waynesboro, VA taking a much needed break from the trail and regrouping. They have decided that they won't be at the finish up north before the park closes on October 15th. Since they are determined to hike every mile of the trail, they are going to go another 160 miles to the half-way point then head north to the end via bus and train. From the northern most point they will begin hiking south. On Friday, they talked about taking a canoe trip down some river, but now that isn't feasible since the water level is too low. So Kris and Joel have been in a hotel since Thursday evening enjoying some R and R, watching TV, swimming in the hotel pool and icing sore knees. They are hopeful that this change up will bring on new enthusiasm for their adventure not to mention the few days rest."
